Moto1 Motorcycles Shine at Home ProMX Connondale

The Moto1 Motorcycles Honda Team enjoyed a memorable weekend at Round 7 of the 2026 Penrite ProMX Championship, with Connondale delivering one of the biggest crowds of the season and an incredible atmosphere as the Sunshine Coast motorcycle community turned out in force.

On track, the team continued to show promising form across the MXW and MX3 classes, highlighted by another consistent performance from Darci Whalley in the MXW Championship.

Whalley once again proved she belongs amongst Australia’s leading female motocross riders, recording 4-6 moto finishes to secure 5th Overall for the round. The result sees the Queenslander head into the championship finale at Queensland Moto Park sitting 5th in the MXW standings, just one point behind fourth place and still with a mathematical opportunity of claiming a championship podium.

Darci Whalley:
“It was another solid day for us at Connondale. We know where we can improve, but we’re continuing to make progress every round. To head into the final round only one point away from fourth is really motivating, and I’m looking forward to giving it everything at QMP.”

The ultra-competitive MX3 class once again provided close racing throughout the day, with Corey Eisel continuing his strong run of form. Battling inside the top ten for much of the event, Eisel recorded a best moto finish of 9th to finish 13th Overall, continuing his development against one of the deepest fields in Australian motocross.

Unfortunately, teammate Nate Andrewartha endured a frustrating weekend after a chain of events during qualifying prevented him from putting together a clean lap. Missing qualification for the championship motos, Andrewartha was unable to take his place on the starting gate despite showing encouraging speed throughout the weekend.

Moto1 Motorcycles Honda Team Manager Shane Fretwell said there were plenty of positives to take away despite the mixed results.

Shane Fretwell:
“It was fantastic to see such a huge crowd at Connondale and the support from the Sunshine Coast community was incredible. Darci continued her consistent run in MXW and has put herself in a position to fight for another place in the championship at QMP. Corey kept himself in the battle all day against a very competitive MX3 field, while Nate’s weekend was simply unfortunate. We know what he’s capable of, and we’re confident he’ll bounce back at the final round.”

The Moto1 Motorcycles Honda Team now turns its attention to the final round of the 2026 Penrite ProMX Championship at Queensland Moto Park, where the team will be looking to finish the national season on a high.
